# Te Kāhui Rongoā design system Built 2026-09-17 from the tkr-site source. Te Kāhui Rongoā is the national body for rongoā Māori practitioners in Aotearoa New Zealand. Built by Hono. ## Files /DESIGN.md Full design and build spec. Read this first. The look, components, conventions. /styles.css The complete stylesheet. Every component the site uses. The real source of truth. /tokens.css Just the :root custom properties, if you only need colour, type and rhythm. /style-guide.html Rendered proof of the system: swatches, type scale, every named component. /homepage.html The Kāinga (home) page built from this system. A worked example of real layout. /index.html Human and agent summary of all of the above. ## Rules you must not break - Te reo Māori headings, English body. No language toggle. Macrons correct everywhere (Kāhui, Rongoā, Pānui, Whakapā, Mō Mātou, Uru Mai, mātauranga, kaitiaki). - "Your rohe", never "a rohe". A rohe is something a practitioner belongs to. - No em or en dashes anywhere. Full stops, commas, spaced hyphens only. Fix the deck's dashes when copying lines across. - Clean light / white look. A deliberate departure from the dark brand deck, at TKR's request. White and Bone-cream base, green as the accent, dark-green bands used sparingly for impact only. - Cultural copy is a DRAFT until a named kaitiaki / mana whenua signs it off. All rongoā and mātauranga wording leans on TKR's own approved brand-deck language to stay safe. - Mobile-first. It must look great on a phone before it looks good on a desktop. ## How to use this The stack is plain static HTML plus one stylesheet. No bundler, no framework, no CSS-in-JS. All design tokens are CSS custom properties in :root. Change a token, the whole site follows. Do not invent colours, fonts, radii or spacing. Use the tokens. Square corners throughout (--radius is 0). Hairline borders, not soft shadows. Mobile-first.
